Trombone / Arranger

  A native of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Dan has been performing in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. area since 1990 when he first earned a position as trombonist with the United States Naval Academy Band where he currently serves as leader and musical director of the "Next Wave" jazz ensemble and "Superintendent's Combo" jazz quintet. In addition to his playing duties, he is a member of the Naval Academy Band's arranging staff. Dan attended South Dakota State University and is a graduate of the University of Iowa where, in 1986, he earned a bachelor's degree in music education and performance . Prior to his position at the Naval Academy Band he served at the Armed Forces School of Music and Navy Show Band South in New Orleans, Louisiana.
